The colliery explosion at Wrexham occurred at 1.30 in the morning when only the repair shift of 300 men were in the pit. Otherwise the disaster would have been appalling. • Eight bodies have been recovered. Apparently death was instantaneous. The clothing was scorched and shredded and the skin torn off. So limited were the effects of the explosion that most of the men engaged in the pit continued working for an hour before learning of the disasterThis is tho first disaster on a North Wales coalfield for 40 years.—Renter. It was announced in our second edition on Saturday that nine men had been killed as a result of the explosion.
