FOXTON NOTES
RACING CLUB’S TRUSTEES. (From Our Own Correspondent). The annual meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club’s Board of Trustees was presided over by Mr J. Kebbell. The chairman’s report 011 behalf of the trustees wus as follows: —“The credit balance, at the Post Office Savings Bank is £ls ss. 'The racecourse during tho past twelve months again shows the result of progressive action by tlie lessees, the Foxton Racing Club, they having completed the installation of water service and lavatory accommodation at a cost of some £2OO, making a very desirable improvement in the comfort of members and public. Me ure also pleased to note that the tree planting is still going on, about 1000 more trees having been planted this year. We understand that if the next race meeting is as successful as is anticipated, the club hope next year to build a new stewards’ stand to take the place of the present unsuitable building. The trustees desire to congratulate the club on the public spirit displayed in olfering the racecourse to the Defence Deportment for the use of their training camps, which must result in a considerable increase of business in the town. Next year* we believe, the club proposes to repaint some of the buildings on the course, thus keeping the buildings up to that state of first-class order that bus always been in evidence in the past. We desire to express our satisfaction at the cordial relations existing between the club and the trustees, and venture to believe the same will always be maintained. Wo wish the club a most successful meeting next month.” On the motion of Messrs W. E. Barber and F. Robinson, it was decided that a vote of sympathy be extended to Messrs 0. Robin, George Colev, A. King and E. Admore in their illness and the hope was expressed that they will soon be restored to health.-
