Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., presided over the Magistrate’s Court to-day -when civil business was transacted. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended cases: Commissioner of Taxes v. P, Davcy, £8 17s 2d, costs £1 ss; same v. Herbert 11. T. True, £3 4s 2d, costs 11s; Gifford Moore, Ongley and Tremaine (Mr Ongley) v. Harrison and Havill, £4 4s, costs £l 5s 6d; same v. F. Ofsoski, £5 9s, costs £1 13s 6d; P. T. Putnam (Mr Glayton) v. D. G. Monrad, £7 7s, costs £1 19s 6d; same v. R, J. Hullena, £3 3s, costs £1 9s 6d; W. Brown (Mr Cooper) v. H. Currie £3 costs £1 3s 6d; Public Trustee v, John Cook, £1 12s, costs Ss; J. D. G. Monracl was ordered to pay James Tombs and Co., the sum of £2O ss, in default 21 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended -so long as defendant pays £1 per month until the debt is paid. CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM. F. Larsen, farmer, Bunnythorpe, proceeded against his brother,' A. E. Larsen, labourer, of Maurioevilie West, claiming to recover from defendant the sum of £lO 13s sd, made up as follows: One horse bought by defendant from plaintiff and valued at £3 3s, one saddle and bridle, the property of plaintiff and allegedly wrongfully detained by defendant, and valued at £5, and £2 10s sd, being-the balance on an account alleged to be 'owing to plaintiff by defendant. , F
Defendant entered ,a counter-claim for £22 2s 3d as follows: The sum of £l4 17s 9d being money received by plaintiff for and on behalf of defendant and for which plaintiff had allegedly failed to account and which was still due, and the sum of £7 4s fid, representing the value of various farm sundries supplied to plaintiff by defendant. Mr Ongley appeared for plaintiff and Mr Grant for defendant. After hearing evidence from both parties, the Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff 'or £8 3s in respect of the horse, saddle ?nd bridle, cost's; being allowed.
