ATTEMPTED ROBBERY.
BANK CLERK SHOT. MELBOURNE, Nov. 28. Robbers entered the Cbmiuercial Bank ol Hampton just as the teller. William Almeida, was closing and demanded money. Almeida resisted and was seriously wounded in the chest by a revolver shot. Notwithstanding this, he chased the man and overtook a mail whom ho thought was concerned in the hold-up and inarched him back to the bank at the point of his revolver, and collapsed just before handing him over to the police. It is not known whether anything was stolen. The police !>%ve made an arrest. —Press Association. TELLER SERIOUSLY INJURED. LITTLE HOPE FOR RECOVERY. Received November 29, 9.55 a.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 29. In connection with the shooting of Mr Almeida at the Hampton branch of the Commercial Bank it has been discovered that £l7O was stolen. The police have made a second arrest. The doctors state that there is but very slight hope for Mr Almeida’s ro r covers - .—Press Association.
