QUEEN CARNIVAL
PROGRESS OF CAMPAIGN. There was a, large attendance of carnival supporters at the Zenlandia Hall last night, when a series of popular entertainments by artists nominated by various queen committees introduced a wealth of variety, while the quality left nothing to ho desired. The Adair Dandies opened the hill and were accorded a good reception. They were followed by a company of children from the Longhorn School, who were accorded a line reception. Their performance was most quaint and pleasing and reflected great credit on those responsible for their tuition. The Queen of the Turf was represented also, and Miss Betty Johnston presented the prizes won by the successful competitors'at last Saturday’s rodeo. The Athletic Sports’ contributors made a good showing and the Fahrin Favourites, who appeared for the Friendly Societies, gave a most enjoyable performance. On the vote of the audience the Adair Dandies were declared the best troupe of the evening, with the Longburn School Idling second place. The voting was very close. A series of competitions conducted hv the Athletic Sports Committee resulted in Miss M. Mills winning a silk bag, Mr A. Roe a silver dish, and Mrs Martin a tea cloth.
