VESSEL ASHORE
MISHAP DURING GALE. CREW NOT IN DANGER. [By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] Received October 22, 10.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 22. The coastal steamer Casino, bound from Port Phillip heads to Portland, went aground oil the mouth of the Kenneth river on a rocky bottom. It is believed that the ruin and gale which were raging; at the time obscured the light at Eagle’s Nest lighthouse. The mate and some of the crew succeeded in getting ashore with great difficulty, and wore able to spread the news of the vessel’s danger. The were conveyed ashore safely. The vessel is leaking, and the crew are still aboard, but no fears are entertained for their safely. —Press Association.
