To-morrow evening, at the Museum the Philosophical Society will hold its usual monthly meeting when Mr R. Ross will give an address on “’lhe Functions of Currency.” -Mr Ross is- well known as a keen student of such subjects and his remarks will no doubt bit received with interest. A novel tournament, jwhich took the form of a ten minutes’ billiard contest, was held at the R.S.A.J Club last night. Twelve members participated, the tourney being of four rounds with a “sudden death” termination. Five players emerged from the qualifying rounds with three wins and one loss and in thl play off Mr W. Haybittlo proved the w nner with Mr E. Chapman runner-up. The biggest score registered during the tin minutes’ time limit was made by Mr :A. W. Chapman, who compiled 81, but pis severe handicap later resulted in his elimination. It is the intention of the (flub authorities to make the next funetbn a Canadian snooker tourney. -
