FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
SPECIAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A special meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held at Foxton on Saturday afternoon, when those present were : Messrs J. Linklater, M.P. (in the chair), and Holben, Chrystall, Signal, Rimmer, W. E. Barber und J. A. Nash. M.P. CORRESPONDENCE. From Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., offering their dumping plant at Foxton for sale for the price of £325 as it stands. — Decided to communicate with the Patoa Harbour Board requesting particulars regarding dumping. From G. A. Brown, asking for particulars of the 'sections at present open foi lease at the Manawatu Heads. Information to be supplied by the secretary. From P. C. Turner, of Palmerston North, stating that he was unablo to comply with the conditions set out in the board’s lease and making application to withdraw application for lease.—Decided to communicate with Mr Tumor on the work.
From Mr E. R. B. Holben, asking that pinus insignia trees be obtained for planting at the heads and also asking that the board .sign up the firm to connect pilot’s residence with electric power. In support of the abovo Mr Holben ' said that the season was now far advanced and something would have to be done in connection with planting pinus insiguis trees at the beach. Ho said he thought these trees could bo obtained free from the Forestry Department as they were j making grants to other bodies of yearling trees to aid afforestation. Regarding electric light at the beach, ho was of the ■ opinion that the board should sign up the nppplication for tho current for the pilot’s residence at once. Ho also suggest , ed the possibility of connecting the main port light with tho current at future date. It was decided that the secretary sign tho application form and that Messrs Linklater and Nash. jVI.’sP., to look into the matter of procuring a grant of trees from the Forestry Department. From Messrs Ross, Rough and Co. regarding the refund of rent for river bank section.—lt was decided to make a grunt. It was decided to write to Messrs Jickell and Gilmore, the board’s engineers, pointing out that the “cradle” for the dredge Hennessy wa3 wanted as soon ns possible and asking what was the cause of the delay in tho matter. A lease from tho hoard to Mrs Catherine Elizabeth Anderson was confirmed. Accounts amounting to £33 5s 8d were passed for payment.
