THE FINAL GAME .Saturday next will be a red letter day in the liistorv of Manawatu football when the Showgrounds, Palmerston North, will bo the mecca of ltugby enthusiasts from far and near to witness the final appearance in New Zealand of the All Blacks who will seek to emulate the deeds of the 'i9oo team on the Rugby fields of Great Britain and France. The fixture is bring staged by the New Zealand Union under the auspices of the .Manawatu Union and the wearers of the all black uniform with the silver fern leaf emblazoned thereon will have opposing them the elect of the Manawatu and Horowhenua unions. Local enthusiasts have still pleasant memories of the famous Springbok match of 1921 played at Palmerston North when the combined team was only defeated by three points to nil, and as the local representatives are training under Mr J. Ryan, an exAjl Black, it is fully expected they will go on tho field in the same condition as those in 1921. No one thought for a moment that the combined team of 1921 would hold the famous Springboks, and it is hoped that the forthcoming game will witness an equally excellent display. ,As the match will commence at 1 o’clock the attending public will bo wise to be early as the gates open at 11.30 a.m. At the conclusion ot the All Black match a representative game will be played between Alanawatu and le Kawau Unions and will complete a Wonderfully attractive programme The school children are requested to assemble at the south gate at noon sharp when they wi! be admitted to the ground and seated in the oval in charge of tho school authorities, ine retailers of Palmerston North request the general public to shop early on Saturday to allow their staffs an opportunity of attending the match, their premises will be closed from 1_.30 p.m. to lu minutes after the AH Black match ends when business will be resumed.
