RESULT OF STRIKES
NEWCASTLE'S EXPERIENCE. TRADE DWINDLING AWAY. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 12, 11.20 a.m. SYDNEY, Juno 12. Mr McDonald, chairman of the Northern Coal Proprietors' Association, states that in 1923 there were 190 separate strikes in the Maitland district, while to fhe_ end of May of this year there wero 205. Ho quoted figures to show that trade from Newcastle was gradually dwindling away, and said that the exports to tho west coast of America had fallen from 1,500,000 tons in 1912 to 500,000,000 tons in 1921.—Press Association.
