m A Sydney message reports that three deserters from the Hood were sentenced to twelve months'' gaol on charges of stealing. It was stated that the naval authorities would deal with them after they had served their sentences. The Australian Federal Cabinet considered proposals for taxation reform, which, it is estimated, would save the taxpayers £1,838,033 in the next financial year. Anglo-Italian experts engaged in the ratification of the Jubaland frontier, have reached an agreement, ceding 43,000 square miles of Kenya to Italian Somaliland. The bulk of the country is semi-arid. The London Daily Telegraph's Berlin correspondent says that the Belgian Government has granted an amnesty to fifty Ruhr prisoners in the Belgian zone. The Government welcomes their release as facilitating agreement between the Kntente. Similar action by France is expected. A London communication states that Mr Mardy Jones, M.P. for Pontypridd, won the Dunmow flitch of bacon. ,lle declared that his connubial existence had been so full of concord that he had never experienced the pleasure of making it up with his wife. The London Morning Post's Athens correspondent says that in consequence of an advance of a million sterling from the Bank of England, the work of settling the refugees from Asia Minor has been expedited. The original 120.000 agricultural refugee families have been increased since the beginning cf tho year by 20,C00, mainly from Poutus and Bithynia.
