COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS.

VISIT TO MANGAHAO(From a Correspondent.) Whenever the commercial travellers entertain a genial company and a first-class show are assured. There was no exception to the rule when some twenty artists from Palmerston North bicited Mangahao camp last Saturday. Opening as is their custom, with the National Anthem, at 8 p.m. sharp, their programme lasted till nearly midnight and yet the audience called for more. A strong orchestra supported the soloists, M well as rendering orchestral selections with first-class talent. Among the vocal soloists were Messrs Tiohener, Pizxey, Blandford, SUtevouscn «nd Orchard. In elocutionary vein Messrs Oliver and McKegg contributed. The solo instrumentalists were Messrs C. Bell (xylophones), C. Edwards (cornet), J. Davis (violin). R. S. Lee (flute) and Eliott (trombone). Mr Tichener, in his inimitable comic repertoire, caused much laughter, while Mr B. Pizzey, in topical songs and comedy, will also be remembered for long. Every item was recalled more than once and the twenty item programme eventually hecame one of fifty-two. Had the artists been able to carry on dawn would ttill havo found the audience there. On the motion of tho secretary of the Workers' Union (Mr Rylands) very hearty cheers were given for the party, to which Messrs Lee and Pizzey replied. The performance concluded with the Marseillaise (out of complimont to their hostess, Mrs Finlayson), and the National Anthem and a dance followed—for the first part of which the club orchestra kindly played. The party was subsequently entertained to supper. No charge was made for tho concert, but at tho conclusion, on Mr Lee's suggestion. * a "tarpaulin muster" in aid of the "All Saints' Children's Home was taken and the satisfactory result amply proved the audience's appreciation of the party's visit. The visitors departed about 3 a.m., leaving a very contented camp.
