CLYDESDALE SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. DUNEDIN, June 5. At the annual meeting of the Clydesdale Horse Society, Mr J, A. Johnstone referred to, the fact that the supply off working draughts was much below requirements, there having been a shrinkage since 1911 of more than 20 per cent. He regretted also that lately the weight and quality of CTydesdafe horses had deteriorated. New Zealand w:(s the finest country in the world for the breeding of weighty, active Clydsdales, and an unlimited market was awaiting exploitation in Australia.
Messrs H- Gascoigne (Hawke's Bay), Harding (Hawke's Bay), E. M. Hutchinson (Poverty' Bay) and W. G. Park (Auckland) were _ re-elected North Island representatives on the, council. There were six nominations for the South Island members, the ballot resulting in the election of Messrs G. C. Thomson, J. A. Johnstone, J. H. Mitchell and J. D. AVylie. Mr J. "\V. Harding (Waipukurau) was elected president. The vice-presidents are Messrs T. Logan (Otamata), R. Konnedv (Drummond), South Island; and R, 1). Knight (Longburn), W. G. Park (Auckland), North Island.
