TOKOMARU SPORTS.
ANNUAL FIXTURE.
The second annual sports meeting of the Tokomaru Amateur Athletic Club was held at Tokomaru yesterday under ideal weather conditions, Uiero being a fair attendance. A longuTy and varied programme of athletic events was carried out in an expeditious and efficient _ manner which reflected credit- on the ollicials controlling the fixture. There was keen competition in all events and competitions, the sports being regarded as most succesful. The principal officials were: Patron, Mr J. Linklater, M.P. ; judges, Messrs J. R. Whvte, A. J. Whyte, A. Judd; 11. E. Williams, W. Campbell, C. Osman and J. Ela; handicaper, Mr L. 11. Chapman; starter, Mr G. Watson; assistant-starter, Mr C. Osman; blackboard steward, Mr C. Palmer; number steward, Mr C‘. W. Stevenson; lap steward, Mr L. Wilton ; call stewards, Mossrs J. Hughes and A. Reed; marksmen, Messrs L. Wilton, C. Rowlands, and S. Parr; honorary secretary Mr L. 11. G'lapham; assistant secretary! Mr 11. Smith. In the evening a most enjoyable dunce was held. The sports events resultod as follow; RUNNING EVENTS.

Terry (Linton) 45yds 2, O. W. Prouse (Longburn) 75yds 3; seven starters, won by ten yards. Time, 2min 7sec. 100 yards handicap: S. T. Hughes (Levin) 7yds 1, L. Mullins (Palmerston North) 10yds 2, A. MEETING OF SUB-CENTRE. A meeting of the Manawatu Sub-Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association was held last night when there were present: Messrs Stagpoolo (in the chair) Aisher, Brady, Hamilton, Amadio and Barltrop, Apologies for absence were received from Messrs 11. L. Young. J. 11. Watt and J. L. Merton. , , The Palmerston North High School and Foxton clubs wrote making application for affiliation to the centre. The latter was foinierly a professional club but has reverted to the amateur ranks. —Granted. The Papatawa, Sandon, Kumeroa-Hope--1 iinds clubs wrote forwarding their affiliation fees.—Received. . . The secretary reported that permission had been granted the Caledonian Society to hold amateur events at its forthcoming fixture on Easter Monday, while the dates of April 21st and March 26th had been granted the Papatawa and \\ ooclville clubs respectively, the secretary’s action being endorsed. The application of the I oxton club for the date of April 9th for the holding of its sports meeting was approved. It was reported that the Manawatu Athletic Cliib had amended its date for the afternoon meeting to April 5. It was decided to send letters to Messrs W. Wilton (Palmerston North) and Dufresne (Levin), members of the centre congratulating them on their successes at the recent New Zealand championship meeting at Dunedin.
