RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB’S MEETING.

Record acceptances have been received in connection with the Rangitikei Racing Club’s meeting, to be held to-morrow and Saturday, and all that is needed is fine weather to ensuie a successful gathering. Recent ia 'ns have greatly improved the track, which is reported to be in splendid oidei. Mr J. Cameron will officiate as judge, while Mr C. O’Connor will manipulate the tapes. There are 19 horses carded for the Trial Plate, which is an event that anything might win. Glenross, however, has the reputation ot being smart, and no doubt will command attention. Palmerston North will be represented by Passionless and lhapot-oa in the Scott Memorial, and the elect of this pair will have to be taken into account. Civility lias been responsible for attractive work at Wanganui, and will have a strong following from that quarter. Of the lightweights, Aeriform looks the most attractive. There are 11 in the Oliakea Hurdles, and as they are an even lot the contest should be an interesting one Sling Camp and Santiago have been bowling along satisfactorily in their efforts on the Awapuni tracks, and should run prominently, while there are possibilities associated with All Melody. Of the 13 figuring in the Rangitikei Cup, one and a-quarter ui’les, Admiral Codrington and Correspondent are in great favour. A good word is spoken for the Fordell-tramed Para, hut whether the daughter of Absurd can see the journey out remains to he seen. Strongholt, in the same stable as Admiral Codrington and Correspondent, will not want for admirers in the Carnarvon Hack, and the same remarks apply to Dodo. In the Ladies’ Bracelet' there are 13 acceptors, and it is a race that may furnish a surprise. Wilderness, liowpvpv has recent form to recommend him and, if artistically handled, will be troublesome over the concluding stages. First Born (9.2) is at the top of the handicap m the Clifton Hack Welter, and notwithstanding the tidy poundage will no doubt go out first choice. In the Ngatiapa five-furlong scamper there are some speedy hacks, \labama, Orchid and Azecta being three of them. The first race is timed to start at 11.30.
