It includes William Russell’s first comedy-drama, “Times llavo. Changed,” produced by William Fox and prqnot#ieed a great success. It presents the serious side of life humorously. Mabel Julienne Scott and Allone Ray ’ support Russell. Tho second feature is tho First National drama, “The '‘Woman in His House,” featuring Mildred Harris. It is a triumph of'mother love, o' Screen achievement distinct und dramatic in its contrast of a wire and a woman- in her husband’s home. Tho serial and a comedy will make this entertainment complete. PALACE. “BROKEN CHAINS”—A MOVIE THRILLER. The motion picture that vvoii the 10,000 dollars prize in the scenario contest "-conducted by the Chicago Daily News, in which there were ?2,000 entries, will be seen in Palmerston North at the Palace theatre for three' nights, beginning tonight. It is called “Broken Chains” and has been produced by Goldwyn, under the direction and personal supervision of Allen Holubar, one of the best known directors in the business. Goldwyn gave the director a great cast in winsome Colleen Moore, Malcolm McGregor, the New Jersey youth who renounced a million to become a film actor, Ernest Torrence, Claire Windsor, Beryl Mercer, James Marcus, William Orlamond, Gerald Pring, Edward Peil and Leo Willis. “Broken Chains” is a story of regeneration of an eastern youth who proves a coward when suddenly confronted by danger ;h his Long Island home. To escape the odium that confronts him, he goes to his ranch in the Redwood district of California and there meets and' falls in love with Mercy Boone, tho-pitiful young wife o: _ a brutal giant who keeps . her chained in his lonely cabin. Tho youth champions the girl, even after being brutally beaten up by her husband. He returns for a final ‘ conflict with Boone who meets his death in-the trap he-had 6et. for the youthful champion. An A 1 St. John comedy, - “The Author,” a Fox News and a scenic will..also, be shown.
