NEW YORK, March 17,

Four American air cruisers started from Santa Monica to-day on the 30,000 miles round the world journey under the command of Major Fredi erick Martin, with pilots Smith, Wade ’ and Nelson, and with alternate pilots. 1 It is proposed to make stops at SaeraImento, Portland, Seattle, . and Prince Rupert Land. ’ The route thence will be by Alaska, Aleutian Islands, Japan and Asia. Major Martin aims at completing the trip ahead of the. three English fliers scheduled to leave London on Wednesday and four machines leaving Lisbon on the same mission a few weeks later.—A. and N.Z. cable.
