RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
COMMENCEMENT OF MEETING. (Per Press Association.) TRENTHAM, March 18. A keen, frosty night gave place to a gloriously fine day when the early morning mists were dissipated by the unclouded sun. The competitors for the National Rifle Association’s meeting were early astir and promptly at 8 o’clock the men paraded. They were briefly addressed by , Colonel Hughes, chief executive officer, who welcomed the new and old belt seekers, and conveyed a message of welcome from the president of the association, Colonel Collins, whose health prevented Ins attendance. A resolution wishing" the president speedy restoration to health was carried by acclamation. The men then moved off to the firing mounds, and in a bright, clear light, with practically a dead calm, shooting began with the service matches four of which are expected to be completed today. _
