AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
MAY BE ESTABLISHED AT WERAROA FARM. MR W. H. FIELD’S CONVICTION. Brief but significant reference to the establishment ot the long promised agricultural college at the Woraroa Central Development Farm was made at the Horowlienua A. and P. Association smoke concert on Wednesday evening (says the Levin paper). Mr J. Linklater, M.P., opened the subject in following the reply of the Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs, to the toast of “Parliament.” Mr Linklater said that one thing he wished to say—and lie was glad the Minister was there to hear him do so —was that they must have an agricultural college in this district. There was no better place in New Zealand for such a college than the IVeraroa Development Farm. His word did not carry as much weight in the House as perhaps it should as he was a young member, but later on it would be different, Mr W. 11. Field, M.P., the next speaker, said, in regard to an agricultural college, that there had been strong opposition from Hawke’s Bay, chiefly on account of the Howard Trust, but he might- now say with confidence that ihe Central Development Farm would eventually ho chosen. He had recently been told this on the best authority, lie would be grossly disappointed if it was cot. He and Mr Linklater would do their best to consumate this end.
