SHOW CERTIFICATES.

WASTE OF GOOD MONEY. COMPETITOR’S OPINION. That the prize certificates issued by the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association in connection with the shows held in Palmerston North was a waste of good money was the opinion expressed by Mr W. Rayner, of Masterton, in a letter to the Association, which was read at to-day’s meeting of the general committee of that body. The writer’s primary object in writing was to acknowledge receipt of two gold medals won by him at the last show, but, at the same time, he had some’ interesting comments to make on the practice of issuing certificates. The certificates, in the writer’s opinion, were a waste of good money. Ho always retained his prize cards, but the certificates he burned to get them out of the way. He further pointed out that the Manawatu Association was one of very few similar associations in New Zealand which issued certificates. It was decided that a clause be inserted in the schedule and catalogue to read: “That first, second and champion prize-winners may have their prize certificates by notifying the secretary within one month after the show.”
