ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

(Per Proas Association.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 28. Police Constable Martin Gordon Smart, a single man aged 26 years, who joined the force .in December. 1923, was found in tiie harbour this morning. During the past week he had been on the night duty beat, including the wharves. He whs seen at 1.25 a.m. by the night watchman, when he appeared to be normal. At 1.45 Sergeant Dunlop, who was expecting to meet him on the wharf, found no trace. The body was found in the water some distance from the Victoria wharf. It is surmised that deceased tripped and fell into the harbour.
