THE LONDON MARKETS,
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 15th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, giving quotations ns on that date: Butler.—The demand lias fallen off considerably and the, market is quiet at the decline. Official quotations are: New Zeat land, salted finest 212 s to 216 s por cwt (Is to Is lid per lb), exceptional 218 s per cwt (Is 11-Ad per lb). Australian: Finest Baited 204 s to 210 s per cwt (Is 9Jd to Is per lb), unsnlted 210 s to 212 s per cwt (Is 10 pi to Is per lb; other qualities, i96s to 200 s per cwt (Is 9d to Is per lb). Argentine; Finest 186 s to 194 s per cwt (Is 8d to Is BJd per lb); other qualities, 160 s to 184 s per ewl (Is 5d to Is 7Jd per lb).: Danish: 2225, 224 s up to 226 s per. cwt< (Is113d, 2s, 2s OJd por lb). Cheese— English is steady. Colonial is very slow and the tendency is weaker. Official quotations are: English, finest farmers’ 135 s to 145 s per cwt (Is 2pl to Is 3pl per lb) Canadian: Coloured 108 s to 110 s per cwt (ll£d to lljd per lb); white 106 s to 108 s per cwt (Hid to lljd per lb).' Now Zealand: Coloured 108 s to 110 s per cwt (Hid to per- lb); white 106 s to
108 s per cwt, (Hid fo Hid per lb). A shipment of Now Zealand produce arrived to-day per s.s. Tainui. Hemp.—ThO Manila market opened quiet but was more firm. towards the middle of the week, closing quiet to steady. “J” grade, Decernber'-February shipments, sold at £34 per ttm. January-March shipments £33 15s per ton. “G” grade is quoted at £39 per ton and values. The output from Ist June to 30th November this year is 1.363.000 bales against 1,170,000 bales in the same period last year. Stocks in Manila on 30th November were 155,000 bales against 157.000 bales for the same time last year. Blocks in Great Britain were 15,961 bales against 7884 bales. The New Zealand market is steady; small business has been done in highpoints at £33 5s per ton; present values highpoints £33 per ton, fair grade £3l 5s per ton. Eggs—The arrivals are light and the market remains firm for all selections. English, Dahiah and Dutch, 29s to 37s per long 100. Australian and Italian, 24s to 26s per long ICO. Lithuanian and Spanish 20s to 25s 6d per long 100. Styrian, Canadian, American, Argentine, Russian, Bulgarian and Egyptian', 12s to 18s per long 100.
