PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME.
SENTENCES AT WELLINGTON. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 26., At the Supreme Court Mr. Justice McGregor imposed the following sentences on prisoners who had pleaded guilty in the lower court i—Charles Hicks, Roland Hanger, Francis Wesley, false pretences, six months* hard labour; William Robert, Hanvagd Watt indecent assault, two years’ hard ' labour, John Morgan, theft from dwelling at Palmerston North, six months’ hard labour; Henry Royden Moore, forgery and uttering and ■ false pretences at Palmerston North, reformative treatment for i period not exceeding two years; Leonard Crawford, horse stealing at Palmerston North, reformative detention not exceeding two years;' Alfred Henegage Holmes, breaking and entering and theft at Eltham, reformative detention not exceeding two years.
