RONCOTEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Rongotca hockey girls continued their success on the playing field when they met and defeated tho Carnarvon team on Wednesday afternoon by three goals to two after a hard and even game. In the first spell Rongotea held an advantago and through better combined play were able to net three goals to the visitors' one. However, in the second half the game was much more even, each side getting a fair share of tho ball and better hockey resulted. Another goal was netted by the visitors while the home team did % not score. Messrs A. Fades and L. Bume "had control of the game. At the conclusion of the match the visitors were entertained at afternoon tea. On Wednesday evening a successful plain and fancy dress ball was held in the hall at Glen Oroua, there being a good attendance. A delightful floor and a most capable orchestra made the dancing very enjoyable. Under the capable management of Mr Lancaster, the arrangements were expeditiously carried out. ' Mr E. Boyee acted as M.C. As a result of the dance the hall funds benefited considerably. In view of the success of this function the committee intend holding another in about three weeks when it is hoped that the same liberal patronage will be extended. Patrons are Reminded of the Horticulture Society's bulb show which is to take place hero on the 18th inst. Final arrangements are well in hand and the official oponing is to be made by Mr J. Linklater, M.P. In view of the large entries promised locally and by outside competitors, the success of the function seems already assured; in any case nothing is being spared by an energetic committee" to make the show the success that it deserves to be.
