OLD MASTER STOLEN.

TORN OUT OF FRAME,

VANCOUVER, Aug. 30. An original masterpiece, a painting of the entombment of Christ by Guido Reni (1575-1642) considered by critics to be almost priceless, has been stolen from the Crocker Art Gallery, says a message from Sacramento (California). The painting was torn out of its frame. RETURNED IN SAN FRANCISCO. SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 6. The masterpiece "Tho Entombment of Christ," which was recently. stolen, has been received by the Call newspaper, with an unsigned note: "God has forgiven me. You will find my body in the Slow Lake in Golden Gate Park."—A. and N.Z. cable.
