PERSONAL.
An Auckland telegram states that Mr R. P. Greville, Commissioner of Lands for North Auckland, died this morning, aged 61 years. When about to leave Auckland for a holiday he became ill from a serious internal comjiaint. He was removed to a private hospital a week ago for an operation, which showed his case to be' hopeless.
The late Mr Peter P. Anderson, who passed away at )jis residence, Broad street, at an early hour this morning, was 77 years of age Deceased came to New Zealand in the ship England 52 years ago, . and took up his residence in Palmerston North. He had led, a quiet and reserved life, but was always willing to do a kind act for others. He had been ailing for the last twelve, months but had borne his sufferings patiently.- A widow, a grown-up family, of six daughters and one son, and sixteen grandchildren are left to mourn their loss, the daughters aro Mesdamea H. H. Griggs, Hanlon, Peters, C. L. Mowlem.and F. Cousins (all of Palmerston North) 'and Mrs T. S. Kingston, of Hamilton. The son is Mr Leonard Anderson, of the local post office staff. Deceased was one of the oldest members of Court Manawatu, A.O.F. The interment will take place tp-morrow afternoon.
