MANAWATU MOTOR CLUB.
ADJOURNED ANNUAL MEETING
The adjourned annual meeting of the Manawatu Motor Club was held .last night, Mr A. A, W r ood presiding over a good attendance. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated that the season had not been very successful financially, as the year’s working showed an excess of expenditure over receipts of approximately £75. The chief loss occurred in connection With the annual race meeting, but if more interest was 1 taken in the fixture this year the position could be rectified. The social side of the club had been marred by wet weather, only one enjoyable run being held, and in that connection thanks were due to Mr B. Stevens. Messrs J. B. Grant (a life member), E. V. West (president), the chairman, committee, and members were thanked for their courtesy and assistance during the year. Owing to pressure of business the secretary, Mr C. Page, was obliged to resign from the position.—The report was adopted. The balance sheet, which was also adopted, showed that cash in hand totalled £ls 14s 7d, and cash at the bank £59 9s od ns against a credit balance of £lsl Is lid carried forward from last year. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr F. J. Nathan; president, Mr J. B. Grant; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., G. Torstonson, B. Stevens. J. Dawber, A. Hancock, 8. W. R. Evans, E. 0. Gaisford, E. V. West, A. P. McHardy; treasurer, Mr E.IV. West; captain, Mr S. Wells; viee-capthin, Mr A. Hancock; committee, Messrs C. Page, J. Dawber, A. A. Wood, J. Rickard, E. Cook, W. Harris, E. V. West, 0. Mahon; member of New Zealand Auto Cycle Union, Mr G. Torstonson; delegates, Messrs E. V. West and J. Dawber; secretary, Mr B. Palmer; assistant secretary, Mr L. H. Bailey; auditor, Mr R. 0. Blechyndeu. GENERAL. The question of sustaining the interest of members in the club, and putting it on an improved financial basis, was discussed at some length by the meeting, but in view of the fact that it had been decided to set up an entertainment committee and _ to later consider the holding of various motor road trial events, it was thought that the prospects' for the coming season were favourable. Messrs Wood, Wells, Dawber, Grant and Page were appointed conveners of a committee to further arrangements in connection with the runs and amusements.
It was decided that the subscription remain as formerly, 10s. An offer by Mr J. Dawber to present a gold medal to the member securing the greatest number of new financial members was accepted with thanks, as also was that of Mr. H. B. Tucker—to present a trophy to be awarded for some club event.
It was decided to hold general meetings on the last Friday of each month.
