Reference to the fact that the Borough Council has let a contract for the delivery of coke for commercial and household purposes at 2s 5d per bag was made by Cr. Graham, chairman of the Gas Committee of the Borough Council, to-day. "The position is now very satisfactory from the C6uncil's point of view," he said, "and we have been simply rushed with orders. The contracting firm has guaranteed daily deliveries. In the meanwhile, there may be some delay in delivery until our new system overtakes the accumulated orders. An effort is being made, however, to ensure that every householder ordering coke will have a supply. At the same time the quantities for industries will also be maintained. The supply will be evenly distributed and one man will not get six bags to another man's single Bag. There is always a big demand for coke at this time of the year," added Cr. Graham.
