DAIRY PRODUCE CONTROL.
I to TBE ZPITO*. Sir —Kindly allow me to comment on a report in your paper under the heading of "Produce Control Bill, Dairy Farmery Union Opposed to Revolutionary Scheme. Mr P f. Small, president of the Wellington Provincial district, is reported as having written to the Prime Minister asking to have the Dairy Produce Control Bill modified, which would mean cutting out the compulsory clauses. Now sir, I would ask the executive of the D.F.U. (I take it that some of those gentlemen are director!, of a dairy company) how thev would like the clauses cut out of the dairy companies which empowered the directors to dispose of the produce without letting the individual supplier say how his portion shall be dealt with. This is a fair comparison, as there are far more dairy companies in New Zealand than thero are suppliers to any of our dairy companies. There is another point, sir, and that is a strong opposition to tho Dairy Control Bill is evident from vested interests. That being so, it is certainly a sufficient guarantee, that the'bill is in the best interests of tho producer and to the detriment of the side that ib opposing the bill, mid, sir, I have never seen in print where the merchant has spoken in favour of the bill. When I joined the D.F.U. I thought I was joining a union -that would look after the dairy farmers' interests, but I fear that I was in error, and should the Dairy Control Bill be defeated in the House through the D.F.U. not supporting the measure, I think the secretary should get a big mail «f reeifitnations. Yours, etc., A DISAPPOINTED MEMBER,
