WHAT AMERICA CLAIMS.

BILL FOR WAR LOSSES

LUSITANIA SUFFERERS

VANCOUVER, May 21. America’s war bill against Germany totals £299,000,000.

The Government asks for over £13,400,000 for submarine damage, £7,000,000 for veterans’ insurance, and £1,100,000 for railway expenses, and other sums for sailors’ war risk premiums, as well as £51,200,000 for the cost of the army of occupation. The latter item is now under negotiation with the Allied Council in Baris, and will not be pressed if the Council reaches an agreement. The bill comprises more than 12,000 separate claims, including a total of £4,000,000 for the Lusitania sufferers, these to be satisfied first.

The report of the American agent to tire War Claims’ Commission says that America’s claims are to be disposed of without regard to the Allied reparation claims.
