MOTORISTS’ ESCAPE.
CAR FALLS OYER A BANK. f A narrow escape from serious injury befell Mr Roland Baker, of Mount Eden, Auckland, through the capsizing of a motor-car at Westfield shortly after seven o’clock on Monday evening. Mr Baker was driving his car along the Great South road toward Auckland, and when opposite the municipal abattoirs the steering ggnr developed a defect, with the result that the car fell over a bank 20ft high. In its descent it turned over several times, landing at the bottom of the bank upside down, with the driver pinned • underneath. As nobody witnessed the accident Mr Baker was imprisoned under the car for some time, until Mr George Wilkins arrived on the scene in another car/ Mr Wilkins, with the aid of a jack, lifted the capsized car sufficiently to release Mr Baker, who was uninjured. His car was badly damaged.
