MYSTERY THEFT.

POLICE CONSTABLES’ PAY. TAKEN FROM STATION. LONDON, July 29. How £350 was stolen from Aybrook-street Police Station, London, is engaging the attention of a special force of Scotland Yard detectives. Every precaution to prevent a robbery between the bank and the station was taken. The money was brought from the bank by a posse in charge of an inspector, and locked in a safe by the superintendent himself. When pay-day arrived, the inspector paid a number of men, placing the balance of the money in a locked desk. When the remainder paraded to receive their pay, the money, which was entirely in pound notes, was gone. Scotland Yard refuses to believe that a civilian could have raided the station.
