10 THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln view ol the big “Soccer” match to-morrow afternoon the following resume of the rules of the game would be of interest to.the general public who may not be conversant with them:— , . 1. The team consists of 11 players, similarly placed to a hockey team. 2. The players can play the bull wan feet, head, breast; any - part of the body but his hands; the goal keeper is excepted, smd may use his hands. 3. The object is to shoot the ball between the posts under the bar and into the net. Each goal counts one point. 4. A player is offside when there are fewer than three opponents between him and the goal when he receives a pass. 5. Infringements: (a) A free kick to offended side for all breaches except (b) lor breaches in goal area a penalty kick is taken in front of goal—only the goal-keepei
defending. , The foregoing rules are an outline only and are subject to several exceptions, but will give a general idea of the game and render it more interesting from a spec ator's point of view.—l am, etc..^ Chairman of Management 1 onnniitee.
