MR HUGHES EXPLAINS. Received June 14, 11.10 a.m. SYDNEY, June 11. Mr Hughes, replying to Baddeley regarding the coal sent to Newcastle from Westport, explained that only Westport or Welsh coal was suitable for the purpose required. It was absurd to suppose that the small quantity imported from New Zealand would have any effect on the unemployment question at Newcastle.—Press Association.
