DEBATING SOCIETY.
RCL FA ADOPTED. 1 he first meeting of the Palmerston North Literary and Debating Society was held in the Y..M.C.A. bullet lasi night, Mr G, I. McGregor presiding. The. chairman slated that the interim committee had gone into the mailer of rules and constitution, and these would be presented to the meeting. A canvass of the town had been made and a very good response was received to the appeal for assistance. The meeting discussed the rules and constitution as drawn up by the committee and adopted them after minor alterations had been made. The annual subscription was lived at ss, and it was agreed to meet fortnightly. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr N. 11, Nash; vicepresidents, -Messrs M. H. dram, J. C. Noting, L. 11. ( rahh, R. Davis; chairman, Mr G, I. McGregor; committee, Messrs L. Campbell, L, F. de Berry, A, MeLeavey and G. 11. I roll ; honorary auditor, Mr W. ( .
