WILD MEN OF BORNEO.
INSPECTED BY THE PRINCE.
SCURRY RACING METHODS. By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received May 20, 11.5 a.m. kAMJAN, May 18. The Prince of Wales had a rather wonderful experience of the wild men of Borneo during his visit to Jessolton. Members of the native race were brought together from ihe jungle- districts, forming a considerable gathering. The feature was the scurry racing, the principle whereof apparently was that the first home gets the prize, and no questions asked. The winner was requested to pose lor a portrait, but he was deeply offended, asking in Malay: "Am 1 a woman that I am mocked at?" At tho Residency the Prince saw an exhibition of blow-pipe shooting by the Dyaks. The proclivity of these folks lor poisoned darts is so notorious that as a precautionary measure every'competitor had to consent to have bis arm scratched with his own darts before being admitted to the grounds.— Beater.
