Mr Nash said he was pleased to see that members of the Public Works Department were linking up with tho society, which should become a very strong body. If it procowled about the business in the right manner it would surely secure the recognition which was desired. If the matter came before Parliament he would assuredly support any request for recognition (Applause.) He was glad to support tho objects ot the engineers of the Dominion, since they were a body of men of service to the public. They had spent long years in qualifying 10 become members of an honourable and useful profession, which should receive every acknowledgment from Parliament. He assured the visitors that they would be well looked after by the local members, who, o morrow, would be pleased to show them anything of interest in the vicinity of he tow Ho hoped tho deliberations of the meeting would prove fruitful and that somethin- would be done towards taking steps to obtain official recognition.
