COMING HAGUE CONFERENCE.
The following appeared in our Second Edition of yesterday:—
By Elect™ Telegraph.—Copyright. Received llav 17, 1.5 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 16. It is officially stated by White House that the American Note rejecting the Hague invitation leaves the door open, for tho United States participation if the conference programme is modified. It is believed that the United States will insist that the Soviet agree to guarantee life and property and sanctify contracts and the rights of free labour. A. and N.Z. cable.
