TURKISH ATROCITIES.
MURDER OF CHRISTIANS. LONDON, May 16. Air Austen Chamberlain, speaking in the House of Commons, said Lord Curzon had sent the French, Italian and American Governments proposals for an immediate joint investigation into grave charges against the Angora Turks of cruelty and barbarity towards ihe Christian minorities in Asia Minor. Air Chamberlain read the statements of Dr. Ward, of the Near Eastern Relief Commission, statv - - .that the Turks were deliberately pla v ~ 'to exterminate the Christian minorities,”'” ! - ing Ottoman Greeks into 'Amasia in a manner that large numbers died on un: roads, on which thousands of dead had lieen counted. Those atrocities had been going on for seven years.
Mr Ghamberlain added that confirmation had been received of Major Youoll’s report that Turks had murdered 10,000 Greeks, after wards seizing their widows and daughters and transferring them to harems.—A. and N.Z. cable.
