PROPOSED DAIRY POOL.
VIEWS'OF THE IMPORTERS. Received May 15, 8 a.m. LONDON, May 13. Replying to the letter from live of the principal importers of colonial produce, slating thai (he promoters of. the New Zealand dairy pool havo no intention of establishing n ring to hold up the price to consumers, other importers of Now Zealand produce, signing themselves "The Majority'' write: "The only difference of opinion is whether the creation of a compulsory pool is the best and only mpsxnt to secure economies and greater efficiency in the distribution of New Zealand produce or in the producers' best interests. It may be that the five correspondents, as agents or promoters of the pool, feel themselves safeguarded as regards supplies, but no satisfactory assuiance has been offered to the rest of the trade, who naturally are loth to run ihe risk of scrapping their organisation in deference to lire wishes of the promoters of ihe compulsory pool, who may find themselves unable to carry out effectively all the good intentions with which they at present are animated.'—A. and N.Z. cable.
