LAWYER'S GREAT SPEECH.

LASTS FOR THREE DAYS.

APPEAL IN ARMSTRONG CASE,

Received May 10, 8.45 a.m, LONDON, May 15. The appeal by Armstrong, who was found guilty of tho murder of his wife, was dismissed.

The feature of the appeal has been Mr Curtis Bennett's wonderful advocacy on behalf of the prisoner., He even .surpassed his brilliant feats at the original trial. During the appeal Mr Dennett .spoke; for three days without notes, and despite frequent interruptions in the form of incisive questions from the Bench, he never lost his grip of the subject, quoting dates and incidents without effort. ' Mr Bennett's feat is worthy of the highest traditions of tho English Bar.—A. and N.Z. cable.
