SHEEP KILLED AND TRUCKS
DAMAGED
A somewhat serious accident ocettrml in tlte southern portion oi the Palniors(on North railway yards during shuntiin; operations in (lie early part oi lit si evening, lint was happily tree trout injury lu any o!' the railway employees. A rake of loaded sheep waggons was standing Ion! ol the crossing ol two lilies oi' rails, whmi another rake ol trucks attached to an engine came ini * collision with it, smashing the end mu of one waggon and killing several sheep, nod at the same tinje capsizing a inimlior of other sheep-laden waggons, doing considerable damage and sea tiering sheep in all directions. The scene oi the accident is very badly lighted at night, and the rake of waggons standing font of the crossing could not he seen from the engine at the far end m the colliding rake. There was consider-
ihlc activity in the yards at the time, ind thi aeeident. was entirely due to the restricted area in which the shun ten; have to carry out their work. .As one railway ollirial put it this morning, the accident is a loreihle aignment in favour ol the proposed deviation. for the work in the yards cannot he carried out satisfactorily in the present conditions. ,
