Mr P. McG. Murray, who formerly had charge of St. David's Presbyterian Church. Terrace bind, and lately has been stationed in Greytown, was a visitor to Palmerston North (luring the weekend. At Wellington on Saturday Mr Joplin retiring headmaster of Wadeslown School was presented with a cinque and a travel ling case. Mrs Joplin received a silver tea jiot and hot-water jug. Mr Joplin ha. taught for 40 years under the Wellingtoi Education Board, 21 years being spent al Wadestown.
Prior to severing her connection with the Palmerston North Hospital, Matron McLagan was presented by the nurses of the institution with a suitcase and by the domestic stall' with a dinner service. The medical stall gave the matron and deputymatron, Sister Greig, who also litis resigned, each a suitcase. The latter is acting as matron until the board makes an appointment.
The friends of Mrs M. Moynihan, wife of Mr Moynihan, of llic Club Hotel, Shannon, will learn with sincere regret of her death while on a visit (o ( hiisfehiircb. The deceased ladv was a very old resident of the* Shannon district, where she bad made her home for aliout 30 years, and much sympathy will be tell for the bereaved relatives. The funeral will leave the Roman Catholic Church, Shannon, to morrow afternoon ui half-past two o'clock. Mrs Charlotte Hall, wife of Mr Thomas Hall, of Raumai, who passed away a few days ago, after a lengthy illness, was a well-known and highly re.-pected residem of the district. Mr Hall was our of die lirsl settlers in Raumai, where he and his wife had resided for 2b year-. There is no l'amilv. hut Mrs Chapman, a sister of tie' late Mrs Ilall. lives in Nelson.
