CROQUET TOURNAMENT.
MRS McRAB WINS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. The final contest for the Manawafu open championship in the croquet tournament took place this afternoon between Mrs Mcßae and Mrs Baxter, the former winning the first and second matches and annexing (he title. The new champion has been playing exceptionally well throughout the tournament, and to-day she was in bril limit form, her long shots being splendid. Securing a big lead early in each game she maintained it throughout, her opponent* not: being able to overcame the line exhibition by the champion. The final ol the handicap singles (B grade) was won by Miss E. 0. Robertson, I who beat Mrs Mansion], 26-6. Miss' Robertson has also been playing brilliantly in the contests, anil her win was a very deserving one. ' , About 2 o’clock the final game in the handicap doubles was commenced between Miss and Mr Robertson and Mrs Mcßae and Mrs Robertson. The former won by ( 26-9. 'Three games have yet to be played in the handicap singles (A grade), these being Hie lasi matches ol the tournament, which will be concluded to-mOrrow afternoon, when Mr (K. Spooner will present the trophies. /
