COMBINKD SCHOOLS' SPORTS

\lii< h interest was manifested in the fifth iinmml swimming' sports of the combined schools yesterday afternoon by the pupils, but there was a regrettably small attendance of the. public. The swimming was of a high order throughout, all events being competed for in a sportsmanlike manner. College Street School gained a signal victory in winning the Jewellers’ Shield for relay races. This shield litis been held for four veto's hy the ('ampin'll street teams. The latter school put up it strong light and held hy them for a similar period. Thompson, of Terrace End School, thanked all for their attendance, lie was pleased to say that the swimming had been well tip to the standard of previous years. Robbie won the breast-stroke, and came first in the rescue race. Second place was secured by a Palmerston North team in both the relay and crocodile i aces.
