JO Russell street, to-day, at Ihr ago of 68 years. For some time past, flie late Mr Moore had been in failing health and had hut recently returned from a trip to the I'idled States of America, lie came hack improved in health, but subsequently suffered a relapse and had been in a precarious slide for some weeks past. The late Mr Moore was born in 1863 in Newry. County Down, Ireland, lie came lo the Dominion when two years of age in the care of his father, the late Mr Charles (lilford Moore, C. IC, in the ship Coeleno. lie was educated in Oainaru, where his father landed and settled, and at Christ’s College, Christchurch. He joined the South British Insurance Company in Oainaru as a junior in 1878 and entered iho Dost (Hlice a year later. After si\ years, during which ho was mail agent on Ihe San Francisco steamer for one voyage, he left the civil service and travelled for a business patent. Subsequently Mr Moore toolc up station life in North Canterbury, but in 1888 entered upon the business of a flaxmiller in Ashburton, which he conducted for four years. Having studied law in Christchurch, Mr Moore was admitted as a solicitor by Mr Justice Dcnniston in 1889. Ho practised bis profession m Hokitika tor six months in 1891 and in Ashburton till 1892. when he removed to Palmerston North and had resided here ever since. Mr Moore was for many years in partnership with All' J. Bruce Beale, who now lives in Tanranga. In later years he was . senior partner of the firm of Messrs Gifford Moore, Ongley, Kelly and 1 remaino. The deceased gentleman leaves a widow and grown-up family, who will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in : their sad bereavement.
