PROJECTED MEAT POOL.
PRODUCERS’ ORGANISATION. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 27. Mr Massey informed a reporter to-day that until the decision of the forthcoming conference is known, nothing will be done in the. direction of appointing an organiser or a board of control for the projected meat pool. “There seems to he a .very general idea,” states the Prime Mimstci, “that the new organisation will be. a Government department,' but this is not the ease. It will be a producers’ organisation. It will, of course, have the Governments support and bucking, but will be the producers’ own organisation. OPPOSITION TO SCHEME.
In connection with the proposed meat pool a private meeting of Wellington and Christchurch frozen meat interests was. a “Standard” reporter was informed, held at Wellington at the week-end, when it was decided to circulate petitions in both islands asking that, in any scheme which the Government may adopt m connection with the disposal of moat, nothing shall be done which will interfere with the farmer’s right to sell his slock as and to whom he chooses. One of these petitions is now being circulated in the Mauuwatu district.
