A large majority of your renders are mystified when reading the scores in the McConachy billiard matches at Home, and are at a loss to determine the relative positions of the players, taking the handicap into consideration. The explanation is simple, and is as follows: hi the present match McConachy is conceding 4000 points in 10,000, and the game will last 12 days. Aiken therefore plays 1000 per day and .McConachy plays 1333. As soon as either player reaches Ins "points" (i.e., the number required to bring his wore lip to the daily aggregate) the game is adjourned. Now, in the'Vesont game, which litis been in progress for four days, McConachy has reached his points with a score of .1333 —lour times 1333. Aiken's score is/277, whereas it should be §ooo—four days at 1000 per day and 4000 start, and he is therefore 723 behind bis points.
