(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Saturday morning' Mr 11.I 1 . Madsen, of Horopilo, and Miss M. ('. Templeton, sister of Mr T. Templeton, of lids township, were mm ried in the Methodist Church Ity Rev. Ashmore. The proficiency examination at (he local school w;ts very .successful, the results showing' thill eleven pupils obtained their proficiency certificate and one pupil obtained a competency certificate out of fourteen presented. Following are the successful pupils: —Mary Sanders, Catherine Houghton, Fsnie Vincent, .Mary Morgan. Hoy Homley, Nancy Maunder. Annie Henson, Marjorie Currie, Alex. Woodd, Kathleen Currie, Hazel .Maunder and Clive McKinnon (competency). Residents "ill he pleased to hear that Mr A. \V. Trass’s little daughter Alice is home again from hospital. Permission has been granted to hold picnics in the Homain as under: I’oximr Day, Ashlmrst .Methodists; New Year's Day, Salvation Army and district, picnic: January 22nd, Palmerston North combined Methodists Mr \V, A I.ongworth’s tender to;- the rural mail delivery around Ashlmrst has been accepted.
