MARKETING OF EGGS DISCUSSED. ,_A meeting of the Mauawatu Utility Poultry Society was held last night, Mr W. S. AVoodroofe presiding. Nine new members were elected by ballot. A letter was received • from Mr J, C. Brown, •of the Agricultural Dtpartmont, Stating that either Mr Cocker or the writer would be available to deliver a lecture to the society should the members choose to have one.—lt was decided to ask for a lecture on the “Feeding of Poultry,” to take place on August 25th. It was further decided to ask members who desired a visit from the Government specialist to hand in their names' to the secretary. The directors reporter! on their recent visit to ■ Devin and stated that, as n result of their efforts, a branch of the society had been formed in that town and would bo registered at u future date. Mr Smith stated that if every member of the society guaranteed the sum of £lO to the bank they would have a sufficient surplus io arrange for an overdraft which would allow of members being paid cash Mr King seconded the motion pro forma. Mr Ritchie remarked (hat when the society had first been formed it paid for eggs every fortnight. Mr Bruce stated that in those days they were marketing only twenty or thirty dozen eggs; per month, but now they were handling several thousand dozen every week. The motion was carried. ‘
